ABSTRACT

As a traditional Chinese medicine, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen (ZSS) has the functions of tonifying liver, tranquilizing heart, astringent sweat and producing body fluid, which is used to treat neurasthenia, insomnia, dreaminess, debility, night sweat and so on. With the rapid and constant development of ZSS resource industry and its medicinal value, a large number of by-products and waste generated in the production and processing process, resulting in serious environmental problems. In general, the utilization rate of ZSS resources was still not high. Based on this, the chemical components and potential resources of ZSS were systematically combed from the perspective of the medicinal parts and bioactive components in this paper, and the authors had summarized that the widely application of ZSS and its by-products (fruit, leaf, root, etc.) in the fields of food, medicine, functional food and other areas was discovered and summarized as feed, feed additives, activated carbon, organic fertilizer, etc. In addition, this paper systematically summarized the current environmental protection problems of the industry, and put forward suggestions for improvement, aiming at reducing environmental pollution and improving the utilization efficiency of resources, so as to provide reference and basis for the comprehensive utilization of ZSS and its by-products, and promote the green, economical and double-effect development of the industry.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese medicine industry, Chinese medicine residue also increased year by year. At present, the treatment on Chinese medicine residue is still stacking, incineration, and landfill; Comprehensive utilization of Chinese medicine residue mainly concentrated on compost seedling, cultivation of edible fungi, production of animal feed, production of biogas, and so on, but these studies utilized only once in Chinese medicine residue, did not reflect the true value of Chinese medicine residue. In this paper, utilization ways and technologies of Chinese medicine residue are summarized on the basis of the article at home and abroad, and put forward new idea about ecological comprehensive utilization pattern of Chinese medicine residue.

ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of Chinese materia medica (CMM) industry, ecological problems brought by CMM wastes in the process of industrialization of traditional Chinese medicine have become increasingly serious. This article analyzes the pattern of CMM wastes resource utilization deeply based on the externality theory of economics, theory of circular economy and value innovation. It comes up with trinity comprehensive utilization mode, which is the combination of extensive low utilization mode, conversion efficiency utilization mode, and high value-added utilization mode. Finally it puts forward specific measures in the process of industrialization of CMM waste resources development technology and resources management value-added.

ABSTRACT

As national strategic resources, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) resource is the material basis for the pharmaceutical industry and health services. The high-efficiency utilization of TCM resource is a major strategic issue that realize the resource conservation and environment friendly recycling economy, guarantee the sustainable development of medicine. But currently,on one hand, the wild TCM resource was seriously damaged and in a serious shortage of stock, the cultivation variety was degenerated, the tending of endangered medicinal materials and the development of alternative varieties were faced many problems. On the other hand, the limited resources cannot be effectively utilized, which results in the waste of resources. Therefore, two ecological restricted resources, poria cocos and Chinese gall, were studied for comprehensive utilization of resources to explore the comprehensive exploitation and utilization of TCM resource as well as the pattern of sustainable development. We suggested that TCM resource should be taken into account as a whole for comprehensive utilization. We should especially pay attention to basic research for the sustainable development of TCM resource, discovery of bioactive substance, excavation and transformation for functional components, the use of biotechnology, the product development, the formation and extension of industry chain. So as the comprehensive exploitation and utilization of TCM resources and sustainable development would be realized.

ABSTRACT

In order to develop and utilize the macrofungi in Heilongjiang province, numerous literatures have been investigated to make a comprehensive analysis of the number of known species of fungi in Heilongjiang province. There exists a total of 546 species of macrofungus in Heilongjiang province belonging to 53 families and 13 orders of 6 classes and 2 subdivisions. And its application value is classified, summarized and reviewed. Three hundred and twenty kinds of edible fungi, 214 species of fungi with medicinal value, medicinal value in the anti-cancer effects of 167 species of fungi, 141 wood rot fungi, 141 species of ectomycorrhizal fungi, 88 poisonous species, 67 macrofungus which are not clarified whether could be edible or toxic. It shows a broad prospects for development and utilization of macrofungus resources in Heilongjiang province.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the antihyperglycemic activities of various fractions from the residues of Blumea balsamifera (BB), and to properly utilize the waste resource. Methods: The antihyperglycemic activities were evaluated by the suppression on serum glucose level in vivo and α-glucosidase inhibition assay in vitro. The high-, mid-, and low-dose (1, 0.5, and 0.25 g/kg of the herb) fractions were ig given to mice for 8 d. The serum glucose was monitored at 1 and 12 h after feeding. Results: The fasting and postprandial serum glucose levels of mice treated with high-dose petroleum ether fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, butyl alcohol fraction, methanol fraction, and water extract from BB were 4.45, 4.39, 4.43, 4.15, 3.74 mmol/L and 6.98, 6.23, 6.45, 6.26, 5.88 mmol/L, respectively, while those in vehicle control group were 5.63 and 7.50 mmol/L. There are four different inhibiting manners by the results of α-glucosidase inhibition assay. Conclusion: The residues of BB have anti-diabetes activities after steam distillation. © 2014 Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines.
